GoDaddy: Redesigning a dashboard 20 million entrepreneurs actually want to return to.
GoDaddy helps individuals, business owners, and entrepreneurs reach customers through domain and website products. But as GoDaddy's product suite grew, the company outgrew its own logged-in customer experience: Venture Home, the dashboard used by more than 20 million customers.
Redesigning Venture Home
Venture Home was utilitarian, with limited functionality. I was brought on to lead the redesign, adding onboarding, personalization, analytics, and discovery features. To optimize the first-time user experience, I introduced an interactive onboarding checklist that guided new users through account setup while exposing them to helpful tools and other products along the way. I also designed user-facing analytics that let customers spot trends in their website traffic and engagement, surfacing just-in-time insights with powerful optimization recommendations. We stopped asking customers to find value, and started showing it to them.
“We stopped asking customers to find value, and started showing it to them.”
As part of the leadership team, I also introduced the RITE usability testing methodology, producing actionable insights that were shared and applied across multiple product teams. Among other measurable wins, this helped us identify and ship a single tested design change that generated $3M in incremental revenue.
Redesigning Venture Home turned a utilitarian dashboard into a genuine growth tool, one that helped entrepreneurs discover more of what they needed to succeed while GoDaddy grew alongside them. It's a clear example of how rigorous testing paired with thoughtful design can move real revenue, not just improve how something looks.
